There is an old saying that you can’t be a prophet in your own land. In Irish rugby coaching circles, this ancient wisdom has never felt more relevant. Ireland is exporting some of the most innovative rugby coaches in the world, as employment is hard to find in their own country. Last weekend, South Africa won the 2025 Rugby Championship, with a coaching team that included two talented Irish coaches. Felix Jones and Jerry Flannery, both products of Irish rugby, were Rassie Erasmus’ assistant coaches.
