Teagasc and unions enter WRC talks over outsourcing concerns
Teagasc and two unions have entered into conciliatory talks over concerns raised by members with the agency’s reliance on outsourcing at research and demonstration farms. The Currency understands that union members want the agri-research body to open full-time staff positions to replace some of those currently being outsourced for ancillary activities such as fencing, building maintenance, and silage harvesting. The issue was referred to the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) by Unite the Union and Siptu over the outsourcing concerns, and the service plan proposal put forward from Teagasc for close to 120 general operatives.
