A dog was hailed a hero after donating blood to save the life of a desperately ill puppy.
Cannock, an Old English Foxhound, saved Cocker Spaniel Rosco when he suffered internal bleeding.
Veterinary nurse Kirsty Thompson was treating the four-month-old pup that was born with a rare genetic condition.
She knew the poorly pooch needed an urgent blood transfusion to have any chance of saving his life.
Kirsty contacted Croome & West Warwickshire Hunt and asked if she could take blood from one of their trail hounds.

Joint master Pippa Wilkinson volunteered Cannock for the life-saving role and he donated 200ml of blood earlier this month.
Cannock’s blood was then rushed over to Henwick Vets in Worcester, where Rosco was being treated.
Thankfully, the transfusion was successful and the plucky pup is expected to make a full recovery.
Cannock’s owner, Pippa, said: “The vets at Henwick are amazing and look after our hounds so well all year round.
“We will always do what we can to help if another hound or a family pet is in need.
“Cannock did brilliantly, and I’m so proud of him for helping to save the life of another animal.

“He’s always been a hero in my eyes, but even more so now.”
Working hounds are exceptionally healthy and are willing to stand still, which makes them excellent blood donors.
Kirsty, who treated Rosco, said: “This was an absolute emergency.
“Adorable Cocker Spaniel puppy Rosco was desperately ill due to a rare condition that caused internal bleeding.
“Rosco’s life was hanging in the balance, but I’m pleased to say he is now well on the road to recovery.
“Working hounds are athletic, so they have a higher red blood cell count than most other breeds.
“It’s a huge benefit to have the Hunt’s support in emergencies when time is critical.”
