RTÉ’s audit and risk committee has sounded the alarm over “poor governance” through the widespread use of retrospective purchase orders in procuring millions of euro worth of goods and services at the broadcaster. Internal RTÉ records released to The Currency under freedom of information show that invoices for goods and services valued at €47 million were submitted without purchase orders first being raised at the national broadcaster between January 2024 and June 2025.
