When it comes to Irish sports journalism, it often seems like there’s no escape from what should be seen as a malignant virus. We’re prisoners of the past, always looking in the rear-view mirror. Even the time of lockdown didn’t get it out of our system, despite endless days, weeks and months of pieces looking backwards because the playing fields were empty and silent. It never stops.
